I spent a day this weekend at Sea World in San Antonio where a group of Cub Scouts were taking part in their camp program. This involves a lot of walking around the park with the staff seeing the different animals kept there and getting “behind the scenes”. The kids got to feed dolphins, “talk” to belugas, watch the killer whale show and sleep right in front of the shark aquarium. (Aside: I still haven’t figured out why all the orcas are called “Shamu” – come on, folks, can’t we be a bit more original? I guess it’s all a question of branding but it is all rather GeorgeForemanesque).
Most of the images I came away with were snaps for the pack web site but this one crossed the art line so I’m posting it here. The “Steel Eel” rollercoaster is one of the two signature rides in the park and we see it here in front of a rather dramatic sunset sky.
Great pic Dave. The sunset is awesome and I also think having the other roller coaster in the background adds some depth to the shot! Very nice!

I love how the roller coaster is illuminated against the dark dusk sky and heading from the drak to the light. Well done! The sunset is killer!

Sweet shot Dave – absolutely gorgeous sunset! The dual rides show a sense of depth that leads you into the frame.

Do you sell your photos? I have a need for a roller coaster shot for artwork on a song.
