Cactus Blossom, Enchanted Rock

One of the wonderful things about Enchanted Rock is the way that life clings to every crack in the otherwise soil-free granite dome. These cactii are fairly common and are currently blooming.Despite their abundance, however, I’ve had a hard time identifying the type – can anyone help out?

nice shot Dave!! I must have missed this one, but the wind was blowing so hard I thought I was gonna get blown away so my time at the top was limited – love the shot my friend!

I didn’t see any of these over on the “main” rock but we walked up the left-side rock first and they were pretty common over there. The wind was quite a challenge – this was handheld and I had to bump the ISO to keep my shutter speeds as high as possible to try to counteract all the movement that was going on.
