We got back from dinner rather later than planned last night, partly due to a rather strong Mai Tai but also because the restaurant we were eating in was so good that we had to stay for dessert (if you’re in the Waikoloa/Mauna Lani area, I would strongly recommend “Snorkel Bobs” when you want to rent snorkeling gear or book snorkel trips, and Monstera Sushi if you are in need of a great Japenese food fix and one of the aforementined dangerous Mai Tais). As a result of the delay, we got back to the hotel just as the last chunk of the sun was slipping below the horizon so, rather than getting the couple of shots I had been planning all afternoon, I grabbed a hasty handheld shot of the colour from the centre of the complex. We’re here a few more nights so hopefully I can execute Plan A tomorrow or Sunday.
After our first 24 hours in Hawaii, I’m delighted to report that it’s every bit as much of a tropical paradise as we had been led to believe. Drew was in tears of joy as we walked to breakfast this morning after seeing puffer fish, angel fish, a couple of green sea turtles, tangs, coronetfish, several heron, minah birds and a host of other critters that had previously only existed to him on Animal Planet. Let’s hope that the wonders continue over the next few days.
As with all the images I’m posting while on Hawaii, this was processed using Photoshop Touch and Filterstorm on my iPad.
