I spent some time yesterday evening out at Pedernales Falls State Park. The main aim was to do some astrophotography with Jason Flenniken but I took advantage of the trip and spent an hour or so in the bird blind just before sunset. Here’s a female Ladder-backed Woodpecker (Dryobates scalaris) that was taking advantage of a free dinner while I looked on.
