Goblin Valley Hoodoos

Goblin Valley State Park lies about half an hour’s drive from the town of Hanksville where we spent 3 of our days during last week’s NxNW photography trip. We visited a couple of times, for sunset one evening then at dawn the next morning after we realized that we hadn’t left enough time to see and photograph the amazing, alien landscape in a single evening. The park is small, covering something around 3 or 4 square miles, but is covered with amazing erosion formations with rocks perched on top of mudstone pedestals.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/16
  • Camera: E-M1MarkII
  • Focal length: 7mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/2s

You were too enthusiastic, hiking all the way in. This was taken about 50 yards from the stairs up to the parking lot 🙂
