Capitol Reef National Park

I took my infra-red camera on the Utah trip and used it a lot during the middle part of the day when the harsh, overhead lighting isn’t at all ideal for visible light photography. In those conditions, though, IR photography shines and the harsh light can translate into very dramatic textures under almost black skies.

This image was taken in Capitol Reef National Park on our way between an afternoon hiking a slot canyon and our sunset shoot (the location of yesterday’s picture).

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/4
  • Camera: E-M5MarkII
  • Exposure bias: -5/10EV
  • Focal length: 7mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/1500s
