Bricked Up

The bird pictures from the last few days were an added bonus last Monday. My real reason to be in Fort Morgan, Alabama was to visit and photograph the Civil War-era fort there. It’s very similar to Fort Pickens, Florida, which I visited last summer but I think Fort Morgan offered even greater grunge opportunity in its underground brickwork and concrete batteries.

The erosion, weeping mortar stains and algae growths were just crying out for the artistic treatment so all the images I’ll post over the next few days were produced using Photomatix to amp up the textures.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/13
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 12mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 1s
