Palouse Texture

I’m leaving Austin behind this week and delving back into the archives and our 2015 NxNW expedition to the Palouse region of Washington state. We were there in June when the wheat was well established but yet to start turning gold. The rolling landscape is absolutely gorgeous, especially from the elevated perspective found at Steptoe Butte State Park where this shot was taken at 6:40am on June 5th, just as the sun was rising.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/11
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Focal length: 380mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 1/250s
