Orca

This image was grabbed during a salmon fishing trip back in 2015 from Sooke on Vancouver Island. Our captain was annoyed by the fact that the orcas were in the area because they scared away the salmon. We, on the other hand, were delighted to see them from a vantage point far closer than if we had been on a whale watching tour as they swam literally feet from our boat.

I’m heading back to that part of the world for a couple of weeks so my fingers are crossed that I’ll have some new and exciting wildlife and landscape images to post when I return.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/8
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Focal length: 250mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 1/1000s
