K’alyaan Pole




A section of the K’alyaan Pole in Sitka National Historic Park, Alaska. This totem pole was commissioned in 1999 by Tlingit Kiks.adi clan leader Al Perkins and carved by Tommy Joseph and assistant Fred Beltran. After dedication, the pole was given to the park by the Kiks.adi in memory their ancestors who fought the battle that marked the last major Native resistance to Russian domination in Alaska.
