Rock of Ages

Today’s image is for Warren who asked me why I hadn’t been posting photos from recent NxNW trips. Looking in my catalog, I have 40 or so queued up but they fell down the list due to all the Sugar Bowl and drone excitement between our last trip in October and now. I plan to rectify that this week, though, so here’s an image taken during a walk through the Rock of Ages Granite Quarry in Barre, Vermont. We used Barre as a base for our expedition but only found out about the amazing history of monumental stonework after we got there. The quarries are now all closed but the community has built an excellent and very picturesque trail network around many of the old workings.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/5.6
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 100mm
  • ISO: 800
  • Shutter speed: 1/180s
