It’s about time I posted another Formula 1 shot so here’s Michael Schumacher driving his Mercedes at Circuit of the Americas, Austin, Texas during Grand Prix weekend last November.
Schumacher is widely regarded as one of the most successful F1 drivers of all time, having won a total of 7 drivers’ world championships during a career which spanned 21 years. He retired at the end of the 2012 season and his seat is now occupied by Lewis Hamilton who, as it happens, won the 2012 US Grand Prix in Austin.
Michael never really peaked on his return to F1, but we will never know how good he might have been is he had had a chance in a Red Bull car. The Mercedes still is not a competitive car over the full distance. Great shot.

I think Michael had a pretty good run, all told! I remember being amazed to discover he was still in the sport when I got back into Formula 1 a few years ago. When I left the UK back in 1994, he was a top player and there he was, 15 or so years later, still driving.
Regarding the Mercedes cars, they seem to have the speed and they certainly have a couple of great drivers this year in Hamilton and Rosberg but, as you note, their performance over the long race is spotty at best.
