Sunset at Bass Harbor Head Light

Back to Maine today and another image from last October’s NxNW2014 photoblogger trip to Acadia National Park. This is Bass Harbor Head Light, an enormously popular sunset location for photographers. If you want to shoot this scene, make sure you arrive at least 90 minutes before sunset to get a position in the dense line of tripods that builds up on the rocky shore!

If you are interested in seeing some of our favourite shots from the trip, Scott Wyden Kivowitz put together an eBook containing 5 shots from each of the photographers in the group. It’s free and you can download it from his ebook catalog page.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/22
  • Camera: NIKON D700
  • Focal length: 24mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/10s
