Globe Chandeliers in Grand Central Terminal

Back inside New York’s spectacular Grand Central Terminal today.  This view was taken at more or less the same location as the shot I posted last Thursday and shows the roof above the large ramps that take commuters from the main concourse level down towards the platforms.

With this image, we’ve reached the end of my week of playing with AuroraHDR. Unlike other HDR tools I’ve tried (HDR Efex Pro, anyone?), I’m left very impresssed and will definitely be continuing to use this software in future. I’m not quite at the stage where I’m going to remove Photomatix from my arsenal (I still feel I have more control in the tonemapping with Photomatix but Aurora’s algorithm does seem to do a better job of handling highlights, halos and noise) but it looks as if Aurora will definitely be giving HDRSoft a run for their money.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/16
  • Camera: NIKON D90
  • Exposure bias: +2EV
  • Focal length: 35mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 2.5s
