What with the pandemic and everything, Christmas has snuck up on me ever more than usual this year. Having finally realized that the festive season is upon us, I’ve dived back into the archives looking for suitably-themed images for the next week or so. This first is an abstract shot back in 2015 during a downtown photowalk.
I created this by pointing the camera at some Christmas lights, setting the lens to manual focus, defocusing to create blobs rather than points of light, then zooming during a long exposure. To ensure that the the streaks were nice and straight, the camera was on a tripod.
