London Eye IV

The London Eye features 32 passenger capsules numbered 1 to 33 with 13 missing for superstitious reasons. The capsules, each representing one of London’s boroughs, can carry 25 passengers in air-conditioned comfort.

The 10 tonne capsules were manufactured by French company Poma, known to skiers around Europe for their resort lift equipment. I’m not sure if the same is true in North America but in European resorts the button tow is commonly referred to as a “Poma Tow”.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/8
  • Camera: NIKON D700
  • Exposure bias: +1EV
  • Focal length: 190mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/350s
