We’ll stay at my favourite Hanksville, Utah butte today. This telephoto image shows a large, red rock perched among the grey eroded channels on the side of the butte. It seems a bit incongruous but strata at the top of the butte contained different rock from the main body and this boulder had presumably fallen from the upper section and come to rest higher on the side than any of its similarly-sized relatives.
