Not too long ago, the Austin skyline was dominated by the wonderful “owl eyes” of the Frost Bank tower. It amazes me that, not too many years later, it’s now completely boxed in by newer buildings. You can see its top just peeking above the roof of the J.W. Marriott hotel here in the centre top of the image.
These days, the dominant features of the skyline are the rather pleasing Austonian building (centre right here) and the brand new “Sail” owned by Google. It will be interesting to hear what this building is ultimately called and whether the local nickname will stick. Austin’s current tallest building, The Independent, is just out of the frame to the left here.
