Josh

While I’m posting portraits, here’s another of the results from yesterday’s headshot session. This is an image of my nephew, Josh, who was updating his résumé and wanted new pictures. We shot against both black and white backgrounds and, although I prefer the dark backgrounds for purely artistic reasons, the white background images are definitely more useful for business or social media use.

For this image, I used the same lighting setup as yesterday’s picture with the addition of a small, blue-gelled strobe washing the white background (a 5’x7′ pop-out panel which is black on one side and white on the other) just to introduce a hint of colour.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/9.5
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 85mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/250s
