Watching Einstein

Crowds in George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston, TX wait for the start of finals competition on Einstein field at the FIRST Robotics Competition World Championships, April 22nd, 2023.

All the competition fields at FIRST Championships are named after famous scientists and engineers. Eight fields run in parallel during FIRST Robotics Competition qualification matches but these are reduced to two fields, “Mass” and “Energy”, collectively known as “Einstein”, for the finals. In this case, two fields are used to allow a match to be going on on one while the other is set up for the next contest.

As for each original division, the final is run as a double elimination bracket with the final match a best-of-three between the remaining two alliances.
