Down by the river in Pagosa Springs, Colorado you can find a collection of large, translucent domes housing raised beds and fish ponds. These structures are managed by the Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership and contain community gardens maintained by local volunteers who raise vegetables, fruit and fish that are donated to local food banks. Geothermal heating allows an diverse variety of plants to be grown within the greenhouses with one, for example, containing several mature banana plants during our visit this week.
