Marlboro Point (IR)

Marlboro Point is about half a mile as the crow flies from the location in Dead Horse Point State Park from which I took yesterday’s image. The distance is deceptive, however, because getting between the two takes about an hour in a serious off-road vehicle. Accessing Marlboro Point is not for the faint of heart!

This shot was taken just after midday on October 3rd, 2022 during our NxNW expedition to Moab. By that time, the light is harsh and generally considered poor for conventional photography but it’s the perfect time of day to break out the infra-red camera and take some high contrast monochrome images like this one.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/5.6
  • Camera: E-M5MarkII
  • Exposure bias: -1EV
  • Focal length: 29mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/350s
