Frankie was one of the riders who very kindly let me photograph them yesterday at a BMX pumptrack in Austin. I had never seen BMX up close and it’s amazing how fast these guys ride over the various jumps and curves in the course. Several times, people jumped several feet over the cone of light from my flash (which is off-camera left here).
This is one of the 30 or so images that I ended up with which I am very happy with. In this case, the fact that I got not only the rider completely sharp but also caught his shadow within the frame really appeals to me.
