"Dragon Castle" Detail, Austin

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is only a few miles from our house and we tend to go there fairly frequently. The kids love to run around in the gardens or on the nature trails but the highlight of the trip is usually a climb up the “Dragon Castle”. Most people know this as the large stone cistern found in the main complex but we know that it is, in fact, the place where the dragons roost.

This details shot shows a section of the wall of the “Dragon Castle” with some of the interesting beams that protrude from it. I loved the play of light and shadow in this section of the building along with the texture of the stone and the climbing vine.
