Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, New York

While wandering around Manhattan, I made a point of dropping in on some of the churches I found. Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church was a favourite for several reasons. Firstly, the architecture reminded me so much of some of the wonderful old churches back in Scotland and, secondly, there was someone sitting at the door to welcome visitors. We chatted a bit about being fellow presbyterians and she kindly allowed me to shoot some pictures inside the sanctuary.

This image doesn’t really get across just how incredibly dark it was there. I’ve fiddled with the colours to make them match how I expect the church looks when fully lit but, during my visit, the lights were very low and I really couldn’t get a feel for the colours of the walls or ceiling.
