I took this shot of St. Ignatius and the headlands north of San Francisco bay on Wednesday evening from the top of Twin Peaks Blvd. I was fortunate enough to finish my Santa Clara meetings early enough to get into the city in time for sunset so managed to visit both the Marin Headlands (just over the Golden Gate bridge) and Twin Peaks to grab shots I thought would be interesting.
This is not a picture I had in mind when I arrived since, frankly, I didn’t know anything about St. Ignatius Church. I had, however, arranged to meet Jim Goldstein for dinner at Twin Peaks and he pointed out several landmarks worthy of photographing. I’m sure I’ll post a few more in the coming weeks. Thanks are also due to Jim for hanging around and humouring me for the hour or so it took for the light levels to get to where they needed to be for dusk pictures like this one!
For the technically minded, this is a 4 exposure HDR processed to look as natural as possible. I used Photomatix Pro, Photoshop, Noiseware Pro and Lightroom to get to the final version.
