Ceiling Fan, Palmer Event Center, Austin

The Palmer Event Center in Austin is a very striking building with huge roof overhangs all round the main enclosed hall. Under these overhangs are the largest ceiling fans I’ve ever seen – they must be 10 feet in diameter.

This was the venue for the start of last Saturday’s first Austin World Wide Photo Walk event. About 40 of us gathered at 8am then wandered the local area (in rather nasty heat and humidity) taking photos until about 11am when we headed to Threadgill’s Restaurant for a drink and some lunch.

I had a good time despite the heat and got to chat with many new photographers I had not met before. You can read more about the event and, shortly, see some of the pictures entered for the competition here.
