Sunset and Eucalyptus, San Francisco

I love this kind of minimalist, silhouette shot. One of my favourite images from last year is somewhat similar relying on the fabulous gradient of colour and a strong foreground shape for it’s impact. In this case, I was doubly lucky to catch a single bird in the frame too.

This particular shot was taken from the top of Twin Peaks Boulevard in San Francisco during an hour I spent there capturing images of the skyline at dusk. I was joined by PhotoNetCast host and phenomenal landscape photographer Jim Goldstein and we both froze in a bitter wind while I waited for the right light level to get the shots I wanted.

Just for the record, this is as close to “straight out of the camera” as any of my pictures get. No HDR, no significant mucking around in Lightroom.
