Senate Chamber Light, Texas State Capitol

Yesterday’s HDR Workshop was a lot of fun. The class was based at Dragonfly Gallery but, as before, we headed down to the State Capitol for our practical shooting session. Despite the fact that the Texas Book Festival was going on, the old section of the building was surprisingly quiet and we got a couple of hours of great shooting time in.

Despite the fact that I’ve been here a huge number of times, I actually found myself shooting different images on this trip. Part of that was a deliberate desire to add a few things I didn’t already have in the collection and part of it was inspiration taken from some of the students, all of whom were already accomplished photographers.

I normally use a wide angle lens in the Senate Chamber but yesterday I shot with longer glass and concentrated on some of the details. This is the large light fitting in the centre of the room. Notice that the bulbs spell out the name “TEXAS.”
