Mercury Capsule, Space Center Houston

We’re heading back down to Space Center Houston again after a brief Christmas interlude. This image shows a Mercury capsule which, as far as I can remember, actually flew though I can’t remember the mission number (sorry!).

Up close, I was amazed at how small this capsule was. Apollo capsules feel huge in comparison. The astronaut inside this can had practically no room when you see the amount of wiring and instrumentation that’s also crammed in there. This would not have been an occupation for anyone even vaguely claustrophobic!
