It’s time to wrap up the UT Longhorn Band series since I need to make sure I have a couple of HDRs on the blog before Tuesday (more of which later) but here’s an image I took during the first game I shot on November 13th. It’s not of the band (obviously) but it proved to me that I am capable of taking a ”real” sport picture!
In this image, UT’s Ryan Roberson runs in a touchdown during the fourth quarter of the UT/OSU game at Texas Memorial Stadium on November 13th, 2010.
The vast majority of my time in the stadium was spent shooting the band but I occasionally turned a lens towards the field when the action came close to where I was standing.
This shot is the result of one such fortunate encounter. I was getting ready to leave the stadium and had worked my way to the north end just as the Longhorns ended a push. I still had the 70-200 on the camera so decided to track the last couple of plays and see what I could get. This is the best resulting image, showing Ryan Roberson as he crosses the line with one of the OSU players in tow. I caught a sequence of 5 or 6 frames (at a wonderful 8fps – I love the D700 with a fully loaded battery pack!) and this was the one that stood out for me.
By the way, the title is the original one. On reflection, I should probably have called it ”Illegal Ball Handling”
Edit 12/7/10: OK, I failed to get the HDRs posted before today – sorry! If you are visiting from DPS, welcome! The last couple of weeks’ posts are, as you can see, not HDR images but you can find a complete list of the HDRs on the blog here.
Thanks, Evan. This one is a favourite though it should probably have a PG-13 rating 🙂
