Borax Dune, Furnace Creek, Death Valley

Death Valley is a fascinating place and one of the most fascinating bits of the valley that I visited was this area near the Harmony Borax Works in Furnace Creek. I had never really given any thought to where borax came from but this area is literally covered in the stuff and the whole place smells like cleaning products (I wonder why?).

This is an infra-red shot taken with a converted Canon Powershot G9.

Great image! The only thing missing is Ronald Reagan & the Mule Train! 🙂

Thanks, gents. I figured you would probably like this one, Mike, given the cloud content.
