Safety FIRST

Safety is a top concern in the FIRST program. These robots weigh in excess of 100 pounds and travel rather quickly so safety on the field is obviously important. Off the field, each pit area is a little workshop with power tools frequently in use leading to all sorts of interesting accident potential.

Awards are given out each day for the team or individual showing the best safety practices and each team brings safety personnel to the competition. Their job is to ensure safe operation of their robot and to promote the safety message to others.

These two young ladies got the point across by walking the pit area with signs. The girl on the left is actually wearing a bubble-wrap outfit too!

You can find many more images of the FIRST Robotics Competition New York Regional on my SmugMug page.
