We’re heading inside our cruise ship today. Carnival Conquest is 953 feet long, displaces 110,000 tons and carries just under 3000 passengers on various itineraries around the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.
Internal decoration is themed around the French impressionists and, frankly, makes Las Vegas look tame. This is the main lobby on Deck 3 which houses a bar and a collection of glass elevators that travel all the way up to deck 11.
Note to Carnival: I’m pretty sure Edgar Degas would not be too happy to hear that you are pronouncing his name “Day-Gus” nowadays. If you’re going to kill the French pronunciation at least add some humour and make it “Dee-Gas” instead.
Our new “cathedrals”. Impressive image!
