Brooklyn Bridge: Crossing to Manhattan

This is a pretty standard shot of the pedestrian walkway on the Brooklyn Bridge. The only anecdote worth mentioning is that the two white specs on the left side are news helicopters covering the Yankees’s ticker-tape parade which was going on as I walked back across the bridge. Given that fact that there were about half a million people in downtown Manhattan to enjoy the festivities, I ended up walking all the way back to my hotel in the 20th St area of midtown. I think I must have clocked about 12-15 miles that day.

Love this. Such a great place to shoot. I love the processing here too!

Thanks, Bob. As far as processing goes, this is a single shot, converted to monochrome with an emphasis on the red channel then duotoned to give it a slightly warmer feel. I used essentially the same settings for all the pictures in this series although a couple are HDR-based and one used exposure blending.

I love that leading line going up to the bridge. I remember walking from the Financial District to Midtown once, not on purpose, but because I couldn’t hail down a cab, but it’s interesting walking because you walk through such interesting neighborhoods. So much to see an do in NYC. Can’t wait to get back there. Love these images in B&W, Dave!
