DFW-SJC: Near Yosemite

The landscape of the California Sierras always fascinates me as I fly over it. A few times, I’ve been lucky enough to pick out the landmarks of Yosemite National Park but on this trip I didn’t see Half Dome or El Capitan. I did, however, see these huge rock outcrops that I rather enjoyed so here’s an example of the amazing, eroded granite geology that’s typical of that area.

Thanks, Dave. I’m still surprised at how much tonal range I could squeeze out of the G9 raw files. The original looked pretty horrible.

Awesome – love this shot. Those strong shadows really emphasize how enormous these outcroppings are.
