St. Patrick's Cathedral

We delve back into the archives for this week’s postings. This shot was taken back in November 2009 during my last photographic visit to New York. I love St. Patrick’s Cathedral and can even forgive them their tripod ban since it is particularly busy in there and they do allow you to use Gorillapods and other small tripod-like stabilisers.

I shot this from a rather unstable Gorillapod teetering on the back of a pew after I had removed the battery pack from the camera and fitted as light a lens as I could get away with. Given the circumstances, I’m pretty happy with the way the shot turned out!

I like the angle Dave, most church shots are from straight on – good to see a different view!

Thanks, Jim. The angle was due as much to the fact that that was the only way I could get the Gorillapod to sit still as to my actual choice 🙂
