These trees, spotted around mile marker 6 or so on the road to Hana on Maui, are almost too colourful to believe. They are Painted Eucalyptus which, I gather, originally come from New Guinea but which seem to do quite well in isolated areas of Hawaii. The trunks really are this colourful – no trickery was involved in the making of this photograph (other than my usual Lightroom tweaks).
