They say Scotland is renowned for its unhealthy, fried foods but I’m willing to bet that the public health experts who made that pronouncement have never visited a Texas carnival and sampled the fare on offer there. Take, for example, the Funnel Cake. Surely there is no more effective way to embed fat in dough than that? Take donut dough but massively increase its surface area by extruding it as a long stream into a 10 inch circular mould in the deep fat fryer. Sprinkle the result with powered sugar and the delicacy is complete. Your intake from one of these delicacies? 760 calories and 44 grams of fat.
Regardless of your feelings about the nutritional value, though, the food stands at the carnival do make for great photographic targets.
Love this one, Dave! Great colors!

Awesome shot Dave. I love carnival midway photography, there are so few places that have such vibrant colors and interesting shapes.

The colours are amazing and the ‘wheel’ (assuming that is what it is) couldn’t have been captured better
