This is one of those rare gems – a sharp, panned shot taken with a shutter speed of 1/45th of a second! My hit rate on these, especially when shooting out in the 300-400mm range, is enormously low but when they work, they really look good (not that I’m biased, of course). Most of the shots like this that I post are shot at 1/125 or even, in the case of some of the Formula 1 cars, 1/250. While these make it more likely that you’ll get a sharp picture in any given burst, the background blur is very significantly lower.
