F4 Under Restoration

I spent Easter weekend down in Corpus Christi with a group from our Cub Scout pack, visiting and sleeping aboard aircraft carrier USS Lexington. The only aircraft currently undergoing restoration on the hangar deck was this F4 Phantom and the marks left on the metalwork as a result of removal of its previous paint just screamed black and white to me.

This same plane was the one that we took our group picture in front of last year at the same event. Apparently, someone got into trouble for allow the boys to climb onto the wing for this shot!

Amazing details. It’s a view of a plane that is seldom seen! And it is fascinating too.

Don’t know why but this plane makes me think of a whale. Great shot indeed!
