On Thursday evening, I finally got to attend a meeting of the local “Drink and Click” chapter at The Goodnight in Austin. This is photographers’ social group that meets in a bar or restaurant to chat, shoot pictures in the local area and generally geek out. I had a great time and met a bunch of folks, some of whom I’ve known online for quite a while and others who were new to me.
About 20 minutes prior to the meeting, I had just bought my new compact, a Fuji X20, so I was keen to play with it and get a better feel for its low light performance. This image was shot in available light inside the bar at 1600ISO and the quality looks great to me (this picture has no noise reduction applied, by the way). It’s certainly at least 3 stops better than my old G9 which had unacceptable noise for me at ISO400.
It was good to see you at the meeting too John. I bought the camera at Precision immediately before coming to the meeting so it was literally 10 minutes old (to me) when I walked in the door!
