USS Lexington Bridge

We’ll take a break from motorcycles today and move back a couple of weeks to my trip down to Corpus Christi. This is the bridge on USS Lexington which is moored down there and is now open to the public as a museum.

When I look at this, I’m always amazed that such a huge ship could be controlled via such basic, mechanical or electrical systems. I suppose simplicity is a good thing in a battle environment but I tend to assume that all large pieces of kit must have complex controls and lots of flashing lights.
