Golden Mask, HMNS

We’re back to the Ancient Egypt exhibit at Houston Museum of Natural Science today. Given the subdued lighting and lack of a tripod, I was limited to very shallow depth of field while there but I thought this subject worked quite well.

The exhibition includes 8 or 10 ornately decorated sarcophagi. It also includes a wealth of gems about ancient Egyptian culture. Did you, for example, know that the ancient Egyptian equivalent of the Post-It note was a piece of broken pottery (on which people would scribble little notes, papyrus being expensive and in short supply)?

Great image, I love the colour and details. Very creative point of view, especially so as you were so restricted technically.
