Pro-Choice Protester

Downtown Austin has been awash with protesters over the last couple of weeks. The Republican-led legislature is trying to bulldoze through a sweeping anti-abortion bill but the Democrats are doing their best to delay the process as long as possible. Given the numbers and the fact that Governor Rick Perry seems willing to continue calling the legislators back to the Capitol ad infinutum, it seems pretty likely that it will pass soon but, until then, there are plenty of people making their opposition known.

On Monday night, as we walked from the Capitol down to the river, we were passed by a march of, I reckon, somewhere between 2000 and 3000 people all sporting orange and mostly carrying placards like this one.
