Chiang Kai-shek Memorial

The other major memorial I visited during my day of sightseeing in Taipei was the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial right in the centre of the city. Chiang Kai-shek, like Sun Yat-sen, was a Chinese revolutionary leader who ruled mainland China for 30 years and Taiwan for 22 years.

The changing of the guard ceremony here was at least as ornate and probably longer in duration than the similar display at Sun Yat-sen Memorial. Again, if you visit, make sure you hang around for the top of the hour so that you can watch.
