Unlike so many US cities, I find Paris interesting because it’s so residential. Even in the heart of the downtown areas, there are enormous numbers of apartment buildings and I get the distinct impression that there is a very much smaller commuting community there than here.
Thinking of Austin, I see this same trend with the growth of residential developments downtown so perhaps the French had the right idea long before we caught on?
