The new visitors’ centre at Savill Garden near Windsor in England has the most amazing roof. It seems to cover at least an acre without any central supports and is formed by a wonderful, curved collection of wooden beams. On the outside, it’s partly covered in grass and partly with wooden shingles. We visited here late in a busy day with both my brothers and their families and, given that we were all tired and the kids were also hungry, we stayed long enough to have ice cream but not long enough to see the actual gardens. Maybe next time?
