When you walk around at the Austin MotoGP event (and, I suspect, at any other MotoGP race in the circuit), it’s extremely obvious that there are only really two fan-favourite riders. The portion of the crowd showing support through their clothing seems pretty evenly split between numbers 93 (Marc Marquez) and number 46 (Valentino Rossi). At Formula 1 races, although there’s always a huge Ferrari-supporting contingent, there’s always a decent show of support for pretty much all the teams but I can honestly say I don’t remember seeing a single race number other than 93 or 46 on a fan shirt last weekend.
That said, therefore, to keep half the supporters happy and to round out my series of pictures of the first three finishers in this year’s Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, here’s Valentino Rossi, known affectionately as “The Doctor” for some reason, riding his Movistar Yamaha during practice at Circuit of the Americas last Saturday.
