Drink and Click – Nikon Event

Last Thursday was Austin’s May “Drink and Click” get together and it was especially fun due to the fact that the folks from Nikon were there with some very nice gear that attendees could borrow to play with. I gravitated towards the fast glass and fell in love with the lens I used to shoot this portrait of model Laura Rogers – the Nikon 200mm f/2G. Wide open, the depth of field is miniscule but the sharp areas are absolutely crisp. At $6000, though, I don’t see one of these lenses appearing in my camera bag any time soon.

Although there was also a Profoto lighting setup there, the lights weren’t working so I shot this handheld at 3200ISO using the modelling light and am, once again, pretty darned impressed by the performance of the D810 in low light.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/2
  • Camera: CORPORATION
  • Exposure bias: +3/6EV
  • Focal length: 200mm
  • ISO: 3200
  • Shutter speed: 1/125s
